2010 PBA Draft Grade

Posted: September 6, 2010 in PBA
Air 21 Express:
Picks: Nonoy Baclao(1st), Rabeh Al-Hussaini(2nd), Rey Guevarra(3rd), Sean Anthony(6th)

Air 21 is in rebuilding phase, and the first step is to have a young talented nucleus that you can build
around. They did just that with their 4 1st round Draft picks. Nonoy Baclao is a defensive specialist
that can
anchor a teams defense. Al-Hussaini is a talented big that can score inside and out. They also picked
high-flyer Rey Guevarra who will provide scoring firepower. Brigth future ahead.
Draft Grade: A

Powerade Tigers
Picks: Sean Anthony, Jai Reyes(from Air21)

Sean Anthony will help Gary David with the perimiter scoring load that the tigers have been lacking.
He will also fill the role of defensive stopper.
Jai Reyes will provide outside shooting and add depth to PG position.
Draft Grade: A

Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters
Picks: Josh Vanlandingham, RJ Jazul.

The elasto painters' biggest need is a Big Man but with the lack of talent at that position they filled
their other needs, backup to Ty Tang and Gabe Norwood, and outside shooting. Rj Jazul and
Josh Vanlandingham fills those need perfectly.
Draft Grade: B+

Alaska Aces
Picks: Elmer Espiritu, Marvin Hayes
Elmer Espiritu is an athletic, high flying wing player and will provide alaska with youthful energy off
the bench. Espiritu also has great upside and with Tim Cone as his coach, he is likely to reach that
Marvin Hayes a 6'3" guard who can score but has question marks about his ablility to defend.
Draft Grade: B+
Meralco Bolts
Picks: Shawn Weinstein(from Alaska) Reigo Gamalinda, Khasim Mirza, Ford Araa
A team without much talent. Their goal in the draft is to add as much talent as possible.
Shawn Weinstein's game is somewhat still unknown but i heard he's a good pint guard.
Khasim Mirza is more of a project. He is still raw but has the tools to become a very good player.
Gamalinda is a talented scorer and shooter.
Draft Grade: B-
San Miguel Beerman: No Picks
Ginebra Gin Kings
Picks: Jimbo Aquino, John Wilson, Robert Labagala
Ginebra is known to have a log jam of guards with Miller, Helterbrand, Cortez, Tubid and Cruz,
yet they still picked guards with their three Draft picks. Wilson, Aquino and Labagala are good players but
drafting them with the current logjam at guards just does not make sense. Unless they make trades,
then it would be sensible.
Draft Grade:D-
B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados
Picks: Pari Llagas, Val Acuna
Llagas is a hardworking but undersized bigman, who could be the replacement of the aging frontline of the
Llamados. There are questions of how he will adjust to the much bigger bigmans of the PBA.
Val Acuna is a high scoring guard who could give them a scoring spark off the bench especially with Simon
being a question Mark.
Draft Grade: C
Talk N' Text Tropang Texters : No picks

Barako Energy Coffee Masters
Picks: Borgie Hermida
A quick point guard will add depth to the back court of the Coffee Masters.
Draft Grade: C
